The Gild Society: Privacy Policy (DRAFT for attorney review)
Your Information

Privacy Policy

Applying to The Gild Society means telling us a good deal about yourself. This page explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have.

Effective October 2026

1. Who we are

The Gild Society is operated by The Cheeky Lab, LLC, 26565 Agoura Road, Suite 200, Calabasas, CA 91302 ("Gild," "we," "us"). We are responsible for the information described in this policy.

The Cheeky Lab, LLC also operates the other brands of the Constellation: MyCheekyDate, Relish, TheCitySet, Fancy·A·Go, NetworkNite, CheekySocial, and Luvo Matchmaking. This policy covers The Gild Society. Each of the other brands has its own privacy policy for what it collects on its own website.

The Gild Society is for adults aged 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger, and we delete it if we learn that we have.

2. What we collect

Information you give us when you apply.

  • Your contact details: name, email address, and phone number.
  • Details about you: your age, your gender, your city, your education, and the general area you work in, chosen from a short list.
  • The education you hope for in the person you meet.
  • Your answers to the application questions about your personality, tastes, and availability.
  • Your Eventbrite payment confirmation number.

Information created while you are a member.

  • The evenings you reserve, are invited to, and attend, at Gild and across the Constellation.
  • Your selections at an evening, such as who you mark in your Ledger, and who marks you.
  • Your compatibility with other members, as calculated by Presence, our matching system.
  • Notes from our hosts and team, and any feedback or concerns other guests share with us about an evening.
  • Your messages to us.

Identification, for introductions only. If we match you for a curated introduction or for matchmaking, we ask for a copy of a government-issued photo ID and keep it for our records. We do not ask for ID when you apply.

Photographs. We may take photographs at our evenings for quality control. They are for our internal use. See section 6.

Payment information. Payments are handled by Eventbrite. We do not receive or store your card details. Eventbrite tells us that you paid, what you bought, and your name and email address.

Information collected automatically. When you visit this website, our hosting provider records standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site that referred you. We do not use advertising or tracking tools on this site.

3. How we use it

  • To decide on your application. Your answers are how we decide whether to offer you membership.
  • To match you. Once you are a member, the same answers, together with your selections at evenings, are used by Presence to estimate who you are most compatible with, and to choose which evenings to invite you to. Presence learns from who members choose over time.
  • To suggest introductions. We may put you forward for a private introduction through our curated introduction service or through Luvo Matchmaking. See section 5.
  • To run your membership. Reservations, invitations, schedule changes, refunds, renewal notices, and replies to your questions.
  • To keep our evenings safe and pleasant. Including acting on concerns about conduct under our Terms of Membership.
  • To tell you about our other evenings and brands, where you have not opted out.
  • To meet our legal obligations and protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Automated review and matching

We use automated tools, including artificial intelligence, in two ways.

Reviewing applications. Each application is first assessed by an automated tool that reads your answers against what we look for in a member. A person on our team is involved in the decision. If your application is declined and you would like it looked at again by a person, write to us and we will do so.

Matching. Presence produces a compatibility estimate between members from their answers and their selections. It is a guide to who you might enjoy meeting. It does not verify anything a member has told us.

Your answers are sent to the providers of these tools only so that they can perform this work for us.

5. Who sees your information

Other members. Keeping you private is the point. At every Gild evening, whether Social, Soirée, or Taste, other members see only your first name and the first initial of your last name. If you and another member choose each other, each of you is given the other's email address, and nothing more. Your name stays as a first name and an initial. Other members never see your application answers, your phone number, or your full name.

The other Constellation brands. Because one company operates all of the brands, your membership record is shared within the Constellation so that we can invite you to their evenings, recognize you when you attend, and apply any decision about conduct across all of them.

People you are introduced to. If we put you forward for a private introduction, the person you may meet, who may be a paying client of our curated introduction service or of Luvo Matchmaking, is shown how closely the two of you match, expressed as percentages. They never see your answers. If the match goes ahead, we may tell them a little more about what you do for work. We ask you before any introduction goes ahead, and you may ask us at any time to stop considering you for introductions.

Our hosts and team, who see what they need to run an evening or answer your questions.

Companies that work for us. These include Eventbrite (ticketing and payment), Squarespace (this website), Airtable (where applications and member records are stored), our email provider, and the providers of our automated review and matching tools. They may use your information only to provide their service to us.

Venues. We may give a venue a guest list of names for an evening.

When the law requires it, or where it is needed to protect someone's safety or our legal rights. If the business or any of its brands is sold or merged, member information may transfer to the new owner under the same protections.

6. Photographs at our evenings

Photographs we take for quality control are kept for our internal use and are never made public.

The one exception is an evening that is being filmed or televised. We will tell you before that evening, and nothing showing you is made public without your permission, given in advance.

7. How long we keep it

  • We do not set a fixed period. We keep your information for as long as it serves the purposes below, and you may ask us to delete it at any time. See section 9.
  • Because people return. Someone who applies today may attend a later evening, or come to us through another Constellation brand. Keeping your record means we recognize you and do not ask you to begin again.
  • Because this is dating, and safety matters. A record of who has applied, attended, or been asked to leave helps us keep every room safe. This applies whether or not your application was accepted.

The same applies to identification provided for an introduction and to photographs taken for quality control. Where we keep a record for safety or legal reasons after you ask us to delete your information, we keep only what is needed for that purpose.

8. How we protect it

We limit access to member information to the people who need it, and we use established providers that maintain their own security measures. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed without permission. If a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

Our records are stored in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.

9. Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you may write to us to:

  • See the information we hold about you, or receive a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your information.
  • Stop being considered for private introductions.
  • Stop receiving promotional messages. We will still send messages needed to run your membership.
  • Ask for a person to review a decision made with the help of automated tools.
  • Withdraw a consent you have given.

Write to info@thegildsociety.com from the email address on your application. We will reply within thirty days. We may need to confirm your identity first. Some requests cannot be met in full, for example where information is needed for a refund, a legal obligation, or a safety record. Deleting your information ends your membership.

California residents. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, to delete it, to correct it, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights. Once a year, you may also ask us about any disclosure of your information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

Residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. We rely on your consent to process your application answers, on our contract with you to run your membership, and on our legitimate interests to keep our evenings safe and to improve them. You have the rights listed above, the right to object to processing and to ask us to restrict it, and the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Residents of Canada. You have the right to access and correct your information and to withdraw your consent, subject to legal and contractual limits.

10. Cookies

This website uses cookies that are needed for it to work, and cookies that tell us in aggregate how the site is used. You can control cookies in your browser settings. We do not currently respond to browser "do not track" signals.

11. Links to other sites

This website links to the other Constellation brands and to Eventbrite. Each has its own privacy policy, which applies when you are on its site.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with its effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell members by email before it takes effect.
